With their decades-long experience in the global construction industry, Lendlease have certainly seen their fair share of plant walls, however they specifically approached us to create something outstanding for their Shanghai head office… Which was a pleasure for us to do!
To make the Lendlease Shanghai Head Office a truly unique space, we proposed ‘an Australian garden’; traveling to the company’s home-base to source native Australian fern spores, and then cultivating them in our greenhouses.
There are seven of these native ferns located around this office; some even dating back to when dinosaurs were on earth! This is arguably the only place in China where these special species can be seen and admired.
In addition to the main vertical garden in the reception area, there are smaller ones located around the office space – it is almost impossible to avoid seeing lush, green foliage at every step.
Together with the ubiquitous planters, the effect of all these plants is an incredibly healthy workspace, with indoor air quality tests showing dramatically reduced toxin levels.
Reduced air pollutants, particularly CO2, in an office environment have a strong, positive effect on employee decision making ability and overall satisfaction.
